Open Question: What size surfboard should i get?

Hey, I got a Epoxy surfboard for christmas, 7''8', but i'm quite short and weigh 42 kilos. When i go out surfing (live in Sydney) i can hardly turn around with my board to catch a wave since it's so big! It's really annoying, because i love to surf, i've been doing it on and off with school for 3 years and i'd love to do it on my own spare time. But the size of the board keeps holding me back.
